The Merger:
Houston Near Town Soccer Club and Bellaire Soccer Club have agreed to merge their competitive programs*, creating one of the largest youth soccer clubs in the Houston area. The competitive soccer division will compete under the name Houston Express Soccer and is expected to field teams with more than 1,000 youth soccer players. Express is made up of boys and girls soccer teams between the ages of eight and 18 and teams from both clubs will begin playing together in the fall 2008 season. Registration for the fall season is expected to open in mid-April with team tryouts starting the second week in May and continuing through the first week in June for older players.
*"competitive programs = HYSA, EDS2 ("Super-2") and EDDOA ("Division I"). There is also a separate recreational program (WU Soccer) that is in-house and is run similar to Bellaire Recreation.
The teams will play on the South Campus Athletic Complex fields just south of Loop 610 at Stella Link, and on fields previously used by the Bellaire Soccer Club (most notably Pin Oak Middle School and Feld Park). Pin Oak will continue as one of our practice fields as well as a game field.
We want all our BSC family to stay with us as we join forces in this merger. This is an opportunity for two well established soccer clubs to join together to make their programs even stronger.

Getting the Word Out:
I have sent a general email out to our families through the Fall and the Spring Affinity database. As with most email blasts, though, we are limited by spam filters and email addresses that have not been updated by the families. We still have many "houston.rr.com" email addresses. I have my fingers crossed that perhaps one of the notices will reach each family.
Coaches, please help spread the word about registration by emailing your teams using your team email loops.
There will be notices in the Examiner, Village News, Southwest News, Chronicle and on the electronic message board at WULL field in Mid-April.
Thanks to all for your help spreading the word.
