Fall 2007: I. Read Everything Below in this Box From Earlier Seasons. It is Still Mostly Relevant.
II. Preseason News from HYSA: Gary Duke will be the new HYSA referee assignor starting with the Fall 2007 season. If you already have your 2007 patch you are covered for the fall season. You can take a recertification class this summer which will get your 2008 re-certification.. If you are not already a referee or want to upgrade from Grade 9 to Grade 8 then you must take a course this summer. A complete list of clinics and instructions on how to get on the registration list is available at www.stsr.org . Click the blue dropdown at the "Referee Program Clinics" box on the left, then click All Clinics. Then read and follow all instructions. You must plan to attend one preseason HYSA referee meeting in late August. Dates are:
Spring 2008:
I. Club-Assigned Games:
II. HYSA-Assigned Games:
Fall 2006 - Ambitious HYSA Quota For those referees who are able to contribute toward the required HYSA quota (Adult and experienced high school Grade 8 referees), we will have an ambitious quota of HYSA assignments to work. Each week we will need to make no fewer than 8-9 assignments, while also reaching mid-teens every few weekends. Having 7 people average 10 games this season and 8 average 5 games this season, we will do fine. Where do you fit in? Email Ron Vlaskamp at rcvlaskamp@sbcglobal.net
Pay Scale Beginning Fall 2006 HYSA has increased its rate of pay for the games it assigns and the club has followed suit for the games we assign:
Pay frequency: HYSA pays referees only at the end of the season. The club pays approximately monthly. Our assignor submits pay information to our treasurer.
Need a Certification Class? Get Moving! Last call for certification/recertification clinics if you are not certified. The current courses give certification for 2008. To work games you must have 2008 certification. If you took the class in the fall you may already have your 2008 certification.
Referee clinic descriptions, dates and fees: South Texas Soccer Referees has complete information
You must register for your course online. Passing the course means you are certified for a calendar year. If you want to become a referee, you will take the Entry Level - Grade 8 (2 days, 18 hours). Youth under 14 years old may take elect Grade 9 recreational certification, which is a one-day 9-hour class. This can give you some guidance: Clinic fees and the USSF registration must be paid prior to attending the clinic. This can either be done by PayPal when you sign up for the clinic, or by mailing a check (made out to STSR) to the course administrator. You will see the instructor's name and a way to contact him/her when you sign up. Always make sure that you include the clinic number on the check. Game Reporting U11 and older: online and by mail
Please remember the referee must report the name of the officials who worked the game. You can do this online from the HYSA website's referee section. This for only U11 and above games. HYSA uses this to keep up with the referee quota (make sure the correct officials get credit) and help generate the reports for your pay. ARs do not need to report.
Reports must be in by 5pm of the Tuesday following the game
You must also mail in the paper copy of the game report to the HYSA Administrator. This is the official game report.
Any game where a red card is issued also requires an additional report. See website or your preseason handout for details.
